Arrest of CSPD Officer

Monday, November 11, 2013, 5:30PM [RELEASE AT WILL]

On November 10, 2013, at approximately 1:00 am, CSPD Officer David Rosenoff was involved in an off-duty, non-injury traffic accident at Interstate 25 and Woodmen Road while driving his privately owned vehicle.

The accident investigation resulted in Officer Rosenoff’s subsequent evaluation for driving while under the influence (DUI). Officer Rosenoff was transported to a local hospital where his blood was drawn for evidentiary purposes, as is normal procedure in DUI investigations. After processing at the hospital was completed, he was transported to his home. Officer Rosenoff was served and released for Careless Driving, DUI and DUI per se.

After serving and releasing Officer Rosenoff on traffic charges, the arresting officer discovered the blood sample missing from his vehicle.  As a result, a joint investigation conducted by CSPD Major Crimes detectives and the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office was launched. This investigation resulted in the November 11, 2013 arrest of Officer Rosenoff on the charge of Tampering with Evidence, a class six (6) felony. Officer Rosenoff was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

“We have placed Officer Rosenoff on Administrative Leave.  Because this is an active investigation, no further information will be released at this time,” stated Police Chief Pete Carey.

Officer Rosenoff is assigned to the Patrol Bureau and has been employed with CSPD for almost 24 years.
