Hill Park Apartments Death Investigation

Friday, November 8, 2013, 2:20 PM [RELEASE AT WILL]

This morning at 9:16, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a call for an “Urgent Assist” from the Colorado Springs Fire Department to the Hill Park Apartments located at 4320 E. Pikes Peak Avenue.

Officers learned that CSFD had extinguished the fire and two people were transported to Memorial Hospital.  One was an adult woman and the second was a 5 year old boy.

Our Major Case Violent Crimes Unit responded when they learned that a 5 year old boy was pronounced dead.  The woman is still in the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

What began as a fire has now become a death investigation.  CSFD will determine the cause and origin of the fire and CSPD will await the results of an autopsy while they continue with their death investigation.

Names are being withheld at this time as well as the relationship of the woman and young boy.
