Summit Apartments Death Investigation

This morning at 9:27, CSPD’s Communications Center dispatched an “Assist” – “Urgent” Call for Service to the Summit Apartments which are located at 2795 Reeve Circle.

When officers arrived, CSFD had already moved a female victim with apparent gun shot wounds, to a safe area as a precaution, in case the suspect remained nearby.

Life-saving measures were administered by CSFD prior to the victim being transported to Memorial Hospital.  Tragically, this afternoon, it was confirmed that the victim died from the injuries she sustained.  The victim’s baby was successfully delivered by doctors and remains in critical condition at this time.

Our Tactical Enforcement Unit utilized their “robot” before conducting a room by room search for the suspect at the complex.  Unfortunately, no one was located.  A suspect description is not available at this time.

The Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death but CSPD’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the crime as a homicide which will mark the 23rd homicide for Colorado Springs once the Coroner’s Office provides confirmation.

The victim’s identity will not be revealed until family members have been notified.

CSPD is requesting the community’s help in providing any help.  Please encourage your viewers and readers to call 719.444.7000 if they heard or saw anything suspicious in the area.
