National Preservation Month Tours

May 2013 is Preservation Month, a month-long celebration of America's history sponsored by the National Trust for Preservation, History Colorado and the City of Colorado Springs.  The Colorado Springs Historic Preservation Board has partnered with local community groups and restaurants to develop events that will highlight some of Colorado Springs' local landmarks.  Read on to discover tours and events offered for Preservation Month!

Thursday, May 16: Historic Buildings of Glen Eyrie 

5:30 PM - Join Susan Fletcher, historian for The Navigators and Glen Eyrie for a tour of General Palmer's historic home and learn about the founder of Colorado Springs. Tell the guard at the Gate House that you are there for the Historic Preservation Month Tour, and meet in the courtyard of the Carriage House.  Reservations Required: email emccauley@springsgov.com. Tour subject to cancelation due to weather. 

Tuesday, May 28: Grace & St. Stephens Episcopal Church

5:30 PM - Come see the beautiful historic Episcopal Church in the Old North End. Park along Monument Street, and meet in the Memorial Garden on the north side of the church, close to the statue of St. Francis. Reservations Required: email emccauley@springsgov.com.
