Work to prevent further snow and ice problems set to begin

Contractor crews will begin work tomorrow morning (Friday, Nov. 20) on the roof of 27 S. Tejon St. in downtown Colorado Springs to prevent future snow and ice from falling onto the sidewalk and street below.  The City originally announced plans for a temporary fix however a permanent solution was determined to be immediately available eliminating the need for temporary steps. 

 

Work will begin around 9 a.m. Friday morning on the north side of the building and progress in a counter-clockwise direction.  Work will continue on Saturday at the voluntary suggestion of the contractors.   Work is expected to be completed by the middle of next week.  Immediately adjacent sidewalks will be closed as work progresses around the building.

 

The City of Colorado Springs will not pay for the roof enhancements as snow- and ice-safety is considered a reasonable expectation of the core and shell project phase.
