Colorado Springs Fire Department Station #9 Adopted by CHEFS
Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Colorado Springs, CO – A local Colorado Springs business, CHEFS, has played an active role in raising money for the victims of the Waldo Canyon Fire. In July, CHEFS provided their call center to collect donations during a telethon that raised over $100,000.00. The CHEFS employees continue to show their support and wanted to do something to show their appreciation for the fire department. They gathered ideas from their employees and decided to adopta fire station kitchen. The Colorado Spring Fire Department’s Fire Station #9 located on Garden of the Gods Road was selected as it was the main staging area for the CSFD firefighters who fought the Waldo Canyon Fire.

Fire Station #9 will be hosting an open house for CHEFS employees on September 26, 2012 from 11am to 1pm.* The firefighters and CHEFS employees will have the opportunity to see all the products that they are providing the fire house kitchen and to thank all of CHEFS employees for their efforts. It will be an impressive assortment of the products that CHEFS sells.

Among the products being donated to Station #9 include a variety of CHEFS branded tools, bowls and cookware, an All-Clad cookware set, KitchenAid and Cuisinart appliances, Chefs Choice knife sharpener, large Wusthof forged knife set, Vitamix blender, Never-Burn sauce pot, LeCreuset cast-iron oven, Wellness Mats, and more. These donations are complements of the entire CHEFS team.

CHEFS support of our community following the Waldo Canyon Fire has had tremendous results, which include:

  • CHEFS call center was made available at no cost, along with a number of employee volunteers, to work with United Way on the evening of July 4th  in support of a community-wide telethon that raised over $100,000.00 for victims of the fire.
  • CHEFS has provided financial support to publish the book “Signs of Hope”, with 100% of sales benefitting the Waldo Canyon Firefighters Fund. They are also selling the book in their store.
  • Their store has provided significant discounts to those affected by the fire and will be a participant in a discount card program being promoted by Colorado Springs Together.
  • Adopting the firehouse kitchen at Station #9, with most of the donations coming from their employees participating in a fundraising sale of kitchen mats, etc.

*Please note this event is open to the media, CHEFS employees and CSFD. It is not a public open house.
