Death Investigation

Thursday, August 23, 2012, 11:00 AM [RELEASE AT WILL]

Officers assigned to the Gold Hill Division of the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to 1624 S. Nevada Avenue, the Chief Motel, regarding a deceased male on 08/21/2012 at 8:30 pm.

Officers found that the male had apparent trauma from an undetermined source. Detectives with the Violent Crimes/Homicide Unit responded and began their investigation.

Detectives established probable cause for the arrest of 49 year old Santos Joseph Torres for Murder in the 1st Degree.  Mr. Torres was taken into custody on 08/22/2012 at 12:30 pm.  He is charged with 1st degree Murder.


Detectives have also established probable cause for Jeannette Silvia {1964} and she too was taken into custody and is charged with 1st degree Murder.

The victim has been identified as Mr. Michael Ramirez {2/27/1953}.  The Coroner is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
