Arts Walk with Mayor Steve Bach
Thursday, August 23, 2012

Join the City of Colorado Springs, the Pikes Peak Arts Council and COPPeR for an evening of art and fitness on Wednesday, August 29th from 5pm to 6pm. Guests will join Mayor Steve Bach and local Rotarians to see a few of the pieces in this year's Butterflies and Friends collection before they are auctioned.

The 5th Annual Butterflies & Friends Project is a community service initiative led by The Rotary Club of Colorado Springs to raise awareness and funding to ensure that children receive essential arts programs in school. Juried artists transform 31 large-scale metal butterfly “templates” into original works of art.  Each butterfly sculpture is displayed around the Colorado Springs downtown area from June – September.

The butterflies will be auctioned at a gala event to be held at Cheyenne Mountain Resort on September 22. Proceeds from the auction go to D11 Schools’ arts programs and the Rotary Club’s Community Service Fund.  One butterfly will be raffled on September 22.  For raffle ticket purchase information, visit ButterfliesandFriends.org.

The walk will begin at City Administration Building –CAB (30 S. Nevada Avenue.) and course through city blocks of Downtown Colorado Springs.  Everyone is invited and the event is free.  Public art abounds in the Pikes Peak region.  Don't miss this chance to learn more about pieces you may not have noticed before.
