Shooting at 3113 S. Academy Blvd. - 2 Dog Tavern

Sunday, AUGUST 19, 2012, 9:15 AM [RELEASE AT WILL]

On Sunday, August 19, 2012 at about 1:41AM, Officers of the Sand Creek Division of the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to 3113 South Academy Blvd, the 2 Dog Tavern, in regards to a shots fired call.  Upon their arrival, Officers found an unresponsive male party who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.  This victim was transported to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A possible suspect vehicle has been identified as a Dark Green in color 90’s model Sedan with darkly tinted windows.

The suspect in the shooting is identified as a 25 to 30 years of age Black Male with a light to medium complexion.  He is bald and approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall.  He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and a pair of blue jeans.

Numerous individuals left the scene prior to officers arriving.  The Police Department would like to speak to those parties to obtain any additional witness information possible.  Anyone who was at the bar at the time of the shooting can call the Police Department dispatch number at 444-7000 or can contact Crime stoppers to remain anonymous. 

The identity of the victim will not be released pending autopsy and notification of family. 

This is the 16th homicide of 2012.  At this time last year, there had been 19 homicides.
