Homicide Investigation: Victim Identified


Thursday, August 16, 2012, 4:15 AM [RELEASE AT WILL]

Yesterday morning, {08/15} at approximately 11:00 am, Officers from the Gold Hill division were dispatched to the Sante Fe Trail east of the Wal-Mart in the 700 block of S. 8th Street.

Officers were called to this area to assist medical personnel responding to a report of an injured male.  When officers arrived, they observed a deceased male on the trail just east of the Wal-Mart.

Due to the suspicious nature of this death, Detectives from the Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility of the investigation.

The Coroner completed an autopsy today and ruled the cause of death to be a Homicide and the manner of death: stabbing.

The victim has been identified as Mr. John Knudsen {1956} of Colorado Springs.  Mr. Knudsen’s death has become the 15th Homicide this year for the Colorado Springs Police Department.
