Wednesday, July 25, 2012 2:30 PM [RELEASE AT WILL]

On May 10, 2012, just prior to 4:00PM, a burglary in progress call was made from 3640 Agate Drive. The caller advised that someone was breaking in a back window. 

Information revealed that a disturbance occurred inside the home which resulted in a serious head injury to an adult male. He was transported from the scene to the hospital. You may recall from a previous Press Release, that a hammer was used in the assault. 

The suspect, Dennis O’Dell, a Colorado Springs resident was taken into custody and charged with Attempted 1st degree Murder. 

Sadly, the victim, Terry O’Dell, died on Monday, July 23, 2012.  His death was determined to be a direct result of the injuries he received on May 10, 2012. An autopsy was conducted and revealed his death to be a Homicide as a result of Blunt Force Trauma.   

Mr. Dennis O’Dell remains in custody at this time.  The District Attorney’s Office will review the case to determine if the charges will be upgraded. 

Mr. Terry O’Dell’s death marks our 14th Homicide of 2012.
