New Application for Mobile Devices Offers Waldo Canyon Fire Information

Colorado Springs, CO, June 24, 2012, Joint Information Command Waldo Canyon Fire- El Paso County has launched a new mobile application for smart phone devices to make it easier for residents to get information on the Waldo Canyon Fire. The app is available at: http:// elpasocountywaldofire.com and will work with I-Phones, Safari web browser and through the Google Chrome browser on laptops and desktop computers. Internet Explorer users can download Google Chrome at : http://www.google.com/chromeframe
Information available through the app is being generated at the Joint Information Center which is being staffed by Public Information Officers representing City and County Public Safety agencies, the United States Forest Service, Colorado Springs Utilities, Memorial Hospital and many other organizations working to provide assistance and information to residents. The latest Information is available on the United States Forest Service website at www.inciweb.org, at the City of Colorado Springs website www.springsgov.com, at the El Paso County Sheriff’s office website http://shr.elpasoco.comand at the El Paso County website www.elpasoco.com.
The Joint Information Center is typically staffed 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for the duration of the fire.

STEP 1
Open the Safari web browser on your mobile device and visit www.elpasocountyelection.com or click this link
STEP 2
Wait a few seconds for the EPC mobile app to load. You will know it is finished loading when you see County news release images scrolling on your screen
STEP 3
Tap the "Share" icon immediately to the left of http://elpasocountywaldofire.com in the Safari address bar
STEP 4
Tap "Add to Home Screen"
STEP 5
Confirm the web-based mobile app's name, "App Name" and tap "Add" in the upper right menu. I used "EPC Mobile" as a sample app name.
STEP 6
The El Paso County Elections Mobile App will install itself on your home screen
STEP 7
Tap the EPC Mobile App icon to launch the application
