for Firefighters Appreciation Day
Colorado Springs, CO – The Colorado Springs Fire Department will be hosting the Farmers Insurance Mobile Command Claims (MCC) bus at the Colorado Springs Fire Department Headquarters on Wednesday, June 27 for a Firefighters Appreciation Day and Cookout. Farmers Insurance will bring and set up their Catastrophe Bus to demonstrate its capabilities.
Farmers Insurance has three Catastrophe Buses (Mobile Command Claims or MCC bus) that are deployed at a moment’s notice to catastrophes anywhere in the United States. The bus sets up and acts as a claims center to handle claims, serve food, supplies, and assist customers and non-customers with their immediate needs. The MCC is displayed at the IAFC WUI Conference in Reno and the national IAFC Convention (this year in Denver), every year. Time: 9:15am to 12:00pm – Media conference at 10:30am
Where: Fire Department Headquarters, 375 Printers Parkway, Colorado Springs
Here is the schedule of events:
9:15am: Introduction of Farmers Insurance personnel and invitation for all fire personnel to tour the bus. You will find the latest state-of-the-art communications equipment above any equipment utilized in the insurance industry. The satellite capability is second to none!
- The MCC affords doppler weather satellite communications (Farmers own weather station if you will), plus satellite phones (30) and laptops (30) for use by victims of a disaster.
- The MCC also has the capability of feeding up to 1,500 people at disasters---three meals a day, plus supplies.
10:30am: The media is welcome to join us and tour the bus and listen to remarks from Farmers Insurance State Executive Director James Pursell, other and invited guests.
After the media conference, (at approximately 11:30am) Farmers Insurance agents and personnel will serve lunch. They will grill hotdogs and hamburgers and provide all the trimmings - plus cold and hot drinks.
