BARRICADED SUBJECT

This morning at 8:00, a call was received to our Communications Center as “Shots Fired.” The person stated that a female left a residence at 4627 Skywriter Circle and moments later 2-3 shots were fired.
Officers secured a perimeter and promptly informed residents to remain in their basements and away from their windows.
Our SWAT Team and Hostage Negotiators arrived on the scene and quickly gathered intelligence information while attempting to make contact with the subject.
Information revealed that there was a disturbance at this home last night and the subject’s wife and 25 year old daughter decided to leave the premises. When the woman returned this morning, her husband was not there but he came home soon afterwards. She advised that her husband appeared intoxicated. As she was leaving the home, shots were fired.
Our Hostage Negotiators continuously attempted to make contact with the subject to no avail. Our SWAT Team made several announcements followed by commands for him to come out of the home, again with negative results. Gas was deployed and officers ultimately took the subject, identified as 47 year old Michael Sanders into custody.
Charges will be filed for Reckless Endangerment and Failure to Obey Commands.
