GROPER SUSPECT SKETCH

Thursday, May 10, 2012 4:30 PM [RELEASE AT WILL]

The Colorado Springs Police Department is releasing the attached sketch of a “groper” suspect in the hopes that someone in the community might recognize him.

On April 26, 2012 at 2:21 pm, while in the Tuesday Morning shopping center parking lot located at 1829 S. Nevada Avenue, a woman was groped as she was placing items in her car.

Three days later, on April 29, 2012 at 5:55 pm, while walking in the Sears parking lot of the Southgate Shopping Center, located at 2050 Southgate Road, a woman was assaulted by a suspect who then ran away.

Descriptions provided by each victim, led investigators to believe that the same suspect was responsible for both assaults.

Please remind your viewers to be cognizant of their surroundings.  Advise them as they’re walking to their vehicles, to be alert to suspicious persons or activity.  Shoppers should have their keys in their hands as they’re approaching their vehicles so they don’t have to search for them in their purses.

If anyone has information about this case, please call 719-444-7000 or you may call Pikes Peak Area Crime Stoppers. You do not have to give your name and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
