Structure Fire at 1074 Jet Wing Drive

Colorado Springs, CO– Colorado Springs Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire located at 1074 Jet Wing Drive at 10:24pm on February 9, 2012. The first engine arrived at 10:31pm to see light smoke coming from the attic area of the home. As crews went into investigate they found a small fire contained in the attic space. The fire was knocked down within 6 minutes.

CSFD responded to this fire with two fire engines, one fire truck and 2 support apparatus. CSFD had 12 firefighters on scene working to put out the fire. The fire started from a seized motor in the bathroom exhaust fan that created heat which caught the materials around the ceiling fan on fire.

Two citizens were driving through the area and saw smoke from the fire. They immediately went up to the door to alert the residents of the fire and called 9-1-1. Due to their quick action the family got out safe and the fire was contained to a small area. There were no injuries reported and the family was not displaced. The damage is estimated to be $3,000 structural and the amount of property saved is estimated to be $197,000 structural.
