Structure Fire at 1329 W. Cucharras St.

Colorado Springs, CO– Colorado Springs Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire located at 1329 W Cucharras Street at 8:38am on January 11, 2012. The first engine arrived at 8:41am to see smoke coming from the attic of the home and called a working fire. As firefighters made access to the roof, they found the fire to be contained to just the attic area of the home.

This was a single alarm fire and CSFD responded with two fire engines, one fire truck, heavy rescue unit, hazmat unit and four support apparatus. CSFD had 24 firefighters on scene working to put out the fire. CSFD fire investigators were called out and have determined the cause of the fire was found to be accidental and caused by overheated electrical wiring that sparked the fire in the attic space.

There were no injuries reported however, the family that lives in the home will be displaced until repairs can be made. The CSFD “After the Fire” representatives and the American Red Cross are assisting the family with any needs they may have. The damage is estimated to be $54,000 structural and $15,000 contents. The amount of property saved is estimated to be $160,000 structural and $134,000 contents.
