PPACG releases draft 2035 Regional Transportation Plan for public review

On Dec. 7, the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG) Board of Directors Executive Committee approved release of the DRAFT 2035 Moving Forward Update Regional Transportation Plan (2035 RTP Update). The draft plan is available for review on the PPACG website.

On January 11, 2012, the 2035 RTP update will be considered for adoption by the PPACG Board of Directors. The RTP provides the foundation for all other aspects of transportation decision making by establishing the vision and goals for transportation within a region and identifying strategies for implementation. The draft document also describes the process used to develop the plan and presents the transportation system components recommended to serve the region’s travel needs through the year 2035. The plan is used by decision makers to understand the broader social, economic, and environmental implications of their transportation and land use decisions.

The DRAFT 2035 RTP Update document represents nearly three years of effort by PPACG advisory committees, the PPACG Board of Directors, transportation system operators, member entity staff, the public, and PPACG staff.

PPACG is a voluntary association of 16 municipal and county governments, including the City of Colorado Springs.
