Oct. 29 costumed creek cleanup

More than 50 people turned out in costume two days before Halloween to clean 10,000 feet of Monument Creek. A flat-bed truck’s worth of trash was removed from the waterway with roughly 30% of it recycled.  Special thanks to the primary sponsor, Chief Petroleum, as well as Johnson Controls for donations. Thanks also go to Colorado College for their facilities, tables, and chairs and Judith Rice Jones for sharing Monument Valley Park’s rich history.  The Marion House, Academy Prep School, and the City’s Fleet Division, joined in as well. Not only did attendees have fun, but they also had the pleasure of provoking a laugh (and many thank yous) from other trail users that day.
