City of Colorado Springs Lifts Fire Restrictions

Colorado Springs, CO - Colorado Springs will go out of fire restrictions effective at 12:00pm MST on Thursday July 28, 2011. Fire Marshal Brett Lacey stated, "We have had an active fire season so far this summer, but weather conditions are improving and restrictions can be lifted.?

Recent precipitation and continued higher humidities have reduced the wildfire danger in Colorado Springs. Fuel moisture levels are making natural fuels less vulnerable to ignition.

Residents are encouraged to "Share the Responsibility" and reduce their wildfire risk by implementing Wildfire Mitigation concepts in their landscaping.  Residents are also encouraged to take advantage of the break in the weather to work on their property and continue their mitigation efforts.  Don't wait until the fire danger is HIGH before you take action!
