 Eating for the environment: Green Bag Lunch-n-Learn
*

 Event Date(s):
Thursday, April 22, 2010 spacer*spacer*spacer*

 City Agency:Environmental Sustainability
 Event Type:"Green" Bag Lunch-n-Learn
 Details:

What better way to honor Earth Day than by learning how to become an "Ecotarian?" There is almost no more basic, daily function than eating. Each day we make food choices with perhaps little idea how those choices impact the environment. Learn how some small adjustments can make an immediate improvement or how a few bigger changes can make a huge difference.

The Thursday, April 22 ?green? bag lunch-n-learn will run over the Earth Day noon lunch hour, from 12:11 to 12: 49 p.m., at the City Administration Building, 30 S. Nevada, in Suite 102. In honor of Earth Day those who come will get give-away samples of earth-friendly foods and helpful take-away information. Attendees are also encouraged to bring and enjoy their lunches during the presentation.

As always, attendees have the opportunity to win a door prize tote bag (pictured). The totes are made from recycled City banners and can be used to eliminate the need for plastic or paper grocery shopping bags.

Michele Mukatis with Peak to Plains Alliance, an organization that showcases locally owned food and agricultural businesses in Southeastern Colorado, will join City Sustainability Coordinator Carrie McCausland for the event.  According to McCausland, ?Given how removed from food production most of us have become in recent generations, the myths and realities will surprise you.? McCausland and Mukatis will also share some of their best eco-friendlier recipes.

Each month, the City Green Team sponsors a lunch-n-learn topic on environmental issues.
