Verizon Wireless Hosts E-Waste Recycling Event in Colorado Springs
Public invited Thursday, July 25, to make a difference for the environment by recycling no longer needed electronics and other items
Verizon Wireless is committed to conserving resources today and protecting the environment for generations to come. For the third time in Colorado Springs, the company is sponsoring a free E-Waste Recycling Event to collect no longer needed computers, electronic equipment and other items.
Since July 1, Colorado residents may no longer dispose of most electronic waste (e-waste) in their household trash. The change is the result of a new law, the Electronic Recycling Jobs Act.

Accepted items at the E-Waste Recycling Event may include*:
-- Televisions (all sizes)
-- Laptop/desktop computers/LCD or flat screen monitors
-- CRT monitors (all sizes)
-- Computer cables/mice/keyboards/printers
-- Small electronic appliances/microwave ovens/vacuum cleaners
-- Stereo/audio equipment/gaming consoles/electronic toys/cameras
-- Aluminum cans/ glass/plastics
-- Cell phones/chargers/accessories
Items that will NOT be accepted:
-- Hazardous waste (batteries, inks/toners, mercury bulbs)
-- Units containing fluid (motors, pumps containing fluid)
-- Refrigerators or freezers
-- Medical waste/radioactive material /X-ray equipment
*All batteries and toners must be removed and cannot be accepted for recycling.
* Computer hard drives will not be wiped.
All collected items will be recycled or disposed of in an environmentally protected way. Cell phones and accessories will be donated to Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine® program to benefit survivors of domestic violence.
