Art Commission of the Pikes Peak Region
The Art Commission is a 12-member advisory panel, with a representative from each of the following categories: Pikes Peak Arts Council board, Southern Colorado Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the City Council of Colorado Springs, the El Paso County Commissioners, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, college/university art education professionals, professional visual artists and citizen representatives. A staff person of the City of Colorado Springs? Urban Development Division attends meetings to facilitate and administer the Art Commission?s proceedings concurrently with consideration by the City or County agencies. The intent of the Art Commission is that its decisions reflect the consensus of the represented constituents. Art Commission meetings are open to the public and are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
Vision Statement: To maintain, nurture and promote cultural and artistic awareness and striving to use expression and diversity to enhance the quality of life of our City?s residents and visitors.
Mission Statement: Serving as a resource to share the benefits of public art with our community and provide recommendations relative to all matters of art in public spaces, including the encouragement and development assistance of public art projects.
