Single-Engine Aircraft Crash at Colorado Springs Airport

Colorado Springs, Colo. (December 22, 2010)

At 12:01 pm, the Colorado Springs Airport communication center was notified that FAA Air Traffic Control had lost communication with an aircraft attempting to land on Runway 17L at the Colorado Springs Airport. Emergency crews responded and found a single engine aircraft at the north end of the runway. There were two fatalities at the scene. The aircraft was a Mooney M20E enroute from Rapid City, SD to Colorado Springs.

The names of the deceased will be released upon notification of next of kin.
