Joel Miller has lived in Colorado Springs for 15 years. He is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy and served 13 years in the Active Duty Air Force. As an Air Force pilot, he flew heavy jet transport aircraft around the world. He served on the faculty at the Academy and as a pilot for the Academy's parachuting programs. Mr. Miller also flew as a pilot for SkyWest Airlines out of the Colorado Springs Airport. Currently he continues to serve as a pilot in the Colorado Air National Guard's 200th Airlift Squadron and as a pilot for FedEx. In his Air Force and civilian capacity, Mr. Miller has operated aircraft into and out of the airport's military flightline, passenger terminal and cargo ramps. He also witnesses, first-hand, the good and bad about airports around the country and the world. He served as an Airport Commissioner from 2000 to 2003 and has played a vital role in several pivotal airport and city decisions during his tenure. Mr. Miller and his wife of 17 years have four children and plan to raise them all in the area.
