Bud has been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1967 (served in Vietnam 1970-1971). After retiring from the Air force in 1976, Bud joined his wife in real estate, built a real estate company and remains active today.

Bud has served on The Airport Land Use Committee (1999), Airport Business Park Committee (2002-2006), Airport Advisory Commission (1999-2004) and currently. Bud has also served on Central Bank Board, Pikes Peak Association of REALTORS Board, Prudential Real Estate Advisory Board and Benet Hill Monastery Board. Bud holds Airline Transport Pilot rating and owns a turboprop aircraft.
