Councilmember and Committee Chair Val Snider opened the meeting at 8:30 a.m.


Introductions were made by all present.

Briefing by Chris Melcher

Chris reminded the Committee that it was set up as a special advisory Committee to City Council on potential legislative action.  Council asked the Committee to do 3 things:

  1. Become educated
  2. Gather public input
  3. Provide recommendations back to Council on potential legislative action

Open Discussion

The Committee further discussed areas they feel are important for Colorado Springs to regulate, in some form.

Areas important to the Committee include:

  • Transportation and Traffic
  • Site Plans
  • Public Process
  • Impact Fees and Financial Assurances
  • Emergency Response Plans
  • Water Quality Sampling
  • Setbacks (high/low density and streamside)
  • Water Disposal
  • Visual Impacts
  • Having an “Operational Conflict” provision
  • Reclamation
  • Noise
  • Air Quality
  • Wildlife
  • Injection Well issues


Open Discussion

The Town Hall Meeting has been re-scheduled to May 3, 2012, 6-8 p.m. in room 102 of the City Administration Building (CAB).

Committee Chair Val Snider adjourned the meeting at 11:30 a.m.
